Many small businesses lack the robust security measures of larger corporations owing to their lack of IT resources and expertise. This makes them vulnerable to cyber threats. So, where can they seek external support for their IT security needs? Whom can they consult for guidance?

To answer that question, IDC surveyed the product offerings of 18 modern endpoint security (MES) vendors in terms of prevention, EDR, and MDR capabilities tailored to meet the needs of small businesses. Among these vendors, Sophos was named the Market Leader in its most recent IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Small Businesses 2024 Vendor Assessment.

According to the IDC report, “Sophos is a strong consideration for small businesses, particularly those with large business security requirements that have little to no in-house security expertise.”

Only weeks ago, Sophos was also acknowledged by IDC as its Market Leader for providing endpoint security solutions for medium-sized businesses.

More Than One Layer of Protection

Small businesses must acknowledge the importance of enhancing their cybersecurity readiness and resiliency. While there are various components to an effective cybersecurity strategy, having a holistic approach towards endpoint security is crucial. In this regard, IDC strongly advocates for adopting multifunctional endpoint security platforms.

Sophos Endpoint the top choice for over 300,000 organizations worldwide seeking in-depth protection against sophisticated cyber threats using anti ransomware, anti-exploitation, behavioral analysis and other cutting-edge technologies. What sets Sophos Endpoint apart is its seamless integration with Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR). This integration enables a team of dedicated Sophos engineers to swiftly detect ongoing attacks from a vast database of known cyber threats. This provides small businesses with the assurance they need to achieve their endpoint security goals without requiring them to be cybersecurity experts.

IDC went on to note, Sophos Endpoint includes “a more expansive set of protection technologies (host-based firewall and IDS/IPS, device control, DLP, and encryption) as standard features in its endpoint security offering.”

Security is Everything

"Every organization, regardless of size, suffers from resource constraints,” noted Michael Suby, research vice president, Security & Trust, IDC. “The stakes in cybersecurity, with small businesses in particular, are massive, and many of these companies are struggling to keep up."

"Sophos, with an expansive set of protection technologies and proven MDR service offering, is a great option to help a small business improve its security posture in whatever way fits best - either with the tools to help its experts in-house or by leveraging the expertise of the dedicated MDR security team," Suby mentioned.

The number of SMB is significant and so too is the market opportunity to elevate their level of cybersecurity readiness and resiliency with an expansive portfolio of world-class products and managed security services from Sophos that are adaptable to virtually any technological environment or stack.
